THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The special team of the Crime Branch probing the Gomathy Ammal murder case on Friday took the prime accused, Sajjayakumar, 34, for evidence-collection to the places where he allegedly planned the murder. Sajjayakumar, a native of Manacaud, was taken to Marakkada and Thampanoor, places where he lodged to plan the murder, and to Chenthitta, where the crime took place, by the team led by J Kishore Kumar. According to the investigation officer, on the day of the incident, Sajjayakumar, with a co-accused, also a native of Manacaud, hired a room in a lodge at Thampanoor and planned the murder. “They then went to the house-cum-shop of Gomathy Ammal at Chenthitta. After carrying out the crime and dumping the body in the Amayizhanjan canal, they hired a room in a lodge at Marakkada. The next morning they came back to the room at Thampanoor and sometime later left for Ernakulam with a lawyer,” said Kishore Kumar. The team has intensified search for the co-accused in the crime. The incident took place eight years ago. Gomathy Ammal, an 81-year-old woman, was killed and her body was dumped in the Amayizhanjan canal allegedly by the accused. The body was found eight days later during the cleaning process in the canal on March 20, 2004. Police said Sajjayakumar resorted to the crime following an altercation with Gomathy Ammal over a property dispute.
