COIMBATORE: The bail application moved by former IGP Pramod Kumar, , who was arrested for allegedly extorting Rs 2.85 crore from the directors of the fraud Paazee group of companies and lodged in the Coimbatore Central Prison, was opposed by Mohan Raj, one of the directors of the Pazee group. The accused, who was an IPS officer, might use his influence even in political circles. He could threaten witnesses if he was released on bail. When there were no complaints against the company, Kumar was one who suo moto filed a case and kidnapped a woman director and extorted nearly Rs 3 crore. Until the money was recovered, he should not be let free, said advocate Subramaniam, counsel of Mohan Raj.Meanwhile Pramod Kumar was produced before the CBI Court judge V Ramasamy as the five-day custody ended on Tuesday.The court had adjourned the hearing on the bail petition filed by Kumar’s counsel to Wednesday.
