VELLORE: A prisoner at the Arakkonam sub-jail died and his kin held a road roko in Arakkonam on Tuesday.Govindhan (48) of Arakkonam was a former PMK town secretary and was arrested as a result of a dispute with the deputy President of Vadamambakkam panchayat Geethanjali.Meanwhile, Govindhan complained of cardiac pain while he was under judicial custody and was admitted to the Arakkonam GH. He died on Tuesday.Relatives and family members of Govindhan held a road roko in front of the Arakkonam GH, demanding action against the cops who filed the case against him. The protest was led by the PMK Vellore East district secretary Saravanan. The protestors also attempted to attack Geethanjali’s house and tried to hold a road roko at the Tiruttani road. Child Labourers Rescued Officials attached to the Child Labourer Welfare Iyakkam conducted a raid at the Vellore new bus stand area and rescued three child labourers.
