BANGALORE: PU lecturers across the state have decided to withdraw boycotting of classes from Friday. However, this decision has been taken ‘with a lot of pain’ and in the ‘interest of students’. “We have decided to resume classes only in the interest of students, and not with the hope that the government would fix our problems,” said Karnataka State Pre-University College Teachers Association president Thimmaiah Purle.Speaking to reporters here Purle said, “We are not against the government. We were asking them to set right the discrepancy caused in the third, fourth and fifth pay commission scales. We will resume classes, with alternative methods of protest.” The PU lecturers have resolved to wear black ribbons, and shout slogans for a minute every day in class. “This is our way of telling the government that we are not done,” said Purle. A memorandum would be submitted every Saturday to the district commissioners When asked about compensating lost classes, Purle informed that it was their duty to finish the syllabus promptly.
