CHENNAI: Vijay Kumar Bafna has officially taken over as the President of the Tamil Nadu chapter of the Rajasthani Association. He, along with other office-bearers of the association, were sworn in at a ceremony held recently. Speaking on the occasion, Bafna said there is a growing need for the 44-year-old organisation to have a representation in the society. With Chennai becoming a cosmopolitan city, people from the community must expand the association and make it a platform of unity and equality, he said.He said the association needed to focus on issues like youth from the community becoming employees and not entrepreneurs, and misunderstandings within the joint family setup. In the last four decades, the association had not been able to gain a corporate identity in the state other than among jewellers, he pointed out. In states like Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh, he claimed they had an edge over the local community in corporate governance. However, he said, this was lacking in Tamil Nadu. He congratulated his team of office-bearers and urged them to do their best for the community in the coming years. Also present at the meeting were Shobakanth Das, President of the Bihar association in Tamil Nadu.
