New Delhi: Rakeysh Om Prakash Mehra’s blockbuster Rang De Basanti has been nominated for British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards (BAFTA) in the Films Not In English Language category.
The Aamir Khan-starrer joins Pan’s Labyrinth, Volver, Apocalypto and Black Book (Zwartboek) in the category.
The Awards take place on Sunday 11 February at The Royal Opera House and
will be produced by Whizz Kid Entertainment and broadcast on BBC ONE.
This is just another feather in cap for Mehra’s film which not only achieve cult status in the country, but is also India’s official entry to the Oscars in the foreign film category.
The film starring Aamir, Siddharth, Sharman Joshi, Kunal Kapoor, Soha Ali Khan and Alice Patten revolves around a young British filmmaker, Sue (Patten), who comes to India to make a film on the revolutionaries - Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru - who had left an everlasting impression on her grandfather who was a jailer.
The film depicts the awakening of the young generation, inspired by the legendary freedom fighters.
