IMD weather update: The Regional Meteorological Centre in Mumbai has predicted heavy rain in Mumbai suburban, Thane, Palghar, Ratnagiri and Raigad districts throughout Sunday

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded red alert – extremely heavy rain prediction — for ghat areas of central Maharashtra till July 16. Extremely heavy rainfall is also likely over Konkan and Goa till July 16; Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka on July 14 and 15; Kerala and Mahe on July 15, according to the IMD report.

WEST, CENTRAL AND SOUTH PENINSULAR INDIA FORECAST

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning very likely over Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Kerala & Mahe, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Gujarat state, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam; scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Telangana, Rayalaseema; isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal during the next five days.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall very likely at isolated/some places over Konkan and Goa, Kerala and Mahe, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka; at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra, Gujarat state during next five days.

Isolated heavy rainfall over Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh is likely till July 18; Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, North Interior Karnataka till July 16.

Isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over Vidarbha, Telangana, Coastal 2 Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, North Interior Karnataka on July 14, 15; Chhattisgarh on July 14, Marathwada on July 15.

EAST & NORTHEAST INDIA FORECAST

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning is very likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Odisha; scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Northeast India and Gangetic West Bengal and isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall over Bihar, Jharkhand during the next five days.

Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Odisha on July 15, 17 and 18; Arunachal Pradesh till July 17; Assam and Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar on July 14 and 15; Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till July 16; Andaman and Nicobar Islands on July 14. Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over Odisha on July 14.

NORTHWEST INDIA FORECAST

Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning is very likely over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Rajasthan; isolated to scattered rainfall is likely over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi and East Rajasthan during the next five days. Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan till July 18; East Uttar Pradesh on July 14, 15 and 18.
