The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has sounded red alert – extremely heavy rain prediction — for ghat areas of central Maharashtra till July 16. Extremely heavy rainfall is also likely over Konkan and Goa till July 16; Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka on July 14 and 15; Kerala and Mahe on July 15, according to the IMD report.
The Regional Meteorological Centre in Mumbai has predicted heavy rain in Mumbai suburban, Thane, Palghar, Ratnagiri and Raigad districts throughout Sunday.
Mumbai, Thane & Palghar will get heavy to very heavy rain on 15,16,17 July which may cause waterlogging, flooding possible in Northern & Eastern areas of MMR. Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning is very likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim and Odisha; scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Northeast India and Gangetic West Bengal and isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall over Bihar, Jharkhand during the next five days.
Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Odisha on July 15, 17 and 18; Arunachal Pradesh till July 17; Assam and Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Bihar on July 14 and 15; Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura till July 16; Andaman and Nicobar Islands on July 14. Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan till July 18; East Uttar Pradesh on July 14, 15 and 18.
