MADURAI: The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Thursday directed the registrar of Anna University to file his reply within two weeks in connection with a plea seeking revocation of the order rejecting the application of Daya Engineering College in Madurai. In his petition before the Bench, Daya Engineering College Principal Pandikumar said all activities have been completed for commencing classes in the current academic year. But, Anna University officials who inspected the college had pointed out shortcomings in the canteen, library and transport facilities.Saying that the delay in getting recognition would affect the process of enrolling students, the college filed a plea before the Madurai Bench, which directed the Anna University to examine the application given by the college. Meanwhile, based on a report submitted by the district collector, Anna University rejected the college’s application for recognition on August 22. The petitioner then prayed for a directive revoking the order of the university and sought granting of recognition to the college.Justice S Manikumar, before whom the petition came up, directed issue of notice to the registrar of the university, returnable within two weeks.
