Kolkata: Renowned film director Rituparno Ghosh, who made films like 'Chokher Bali', 'Unishe April' and 'Raincoat', died here Thursday. He was 49.
Ghosh, who was suffering from pancreatitis, passed away at his residence around 7.30 a.m., his colleague Gautam Ghosh told reporters.
Shocked colleagues and friends gathered at the home of the much awarded filmmaker as news of the death spread.
In one of his last tweets he talked about finishing the shooting of his next film 'Satyanweshi' in which Sujoy Ghosh was playing the lead role. He wrote, "Wrapped up the shoot of Satyanewshi, a crime thriller in the molten glow of the pensive falling afternoon."
He further talked about Guru Dutt, "Surprising that the brooding prince of indian cinema Guru Dutt,stayed in the same palatial mansion to film his Sahab Biwi aur Ghulam."
