New Delhi: NCP General Secretary Tariq Anwar, on Thursday commended the findings of the Sachar Panel saying that the recommendations reflected the genuine concerns of the minorities.
"It is nothing like politics of minority appeasement. In fact the recommendation of the Justice Sachhar committee has proved wrong all those allegations," he was quoted by PTI as saying.
Anwar, who is an MP said that the report should hopefully be tabled during the Budget session of Parliament.
The debates and Opposition offensive over the Sachar Committee report has failed to deter the Union Government from its resolve to go ahead with the recommendations of the panel, which was formed to study the socio-economic status of Muslims in the country.
Among other things, the Sachar Panel has advocated reservation for the most backward among the Muslim community and creation of an Equal Opportunity Commission.
Just a month after the report was tabled in Parliament, Minority Affairs Minister AR Antulay had announced that the Sachar Committee report will be implemented "in toto in 2007".
