New Delhi: The tiff between traders and the MCD continues in the Capital. The Supreme Court has warned traders in Delhi against tampering with the seals of shops shut down by the MCD.
The MCD has been sealing shops in residential areas after the court declared them illegal.
The SC on Monday asked the MCD to submit a list of traders who are tampering with the seals.
The court also said names of shopkeepers trying to bribe MCD officials to prevent action should be put up on a website.
The SC gave traders time till Friday to file affidavits that they would shift their shops from residential areas.
Meanwhile, the Congress is trying to drum up a campaign against the demolition drive in the Capital. Science and Technology Minister Kapil Sibal says the MCD must stop the demolitions for six months.
“It is our firm belief that either an ordinance or a law is passed in the Parliament to stop the sealing or demolition of various premises for a period of six months, “ says Sibal.
Earlier, Markets across Delhi witnessed unrest as traders decided to take the Municipal Corporation of Delhi head on.
The MCD sealed the CTC Plaza in South Delhi and some showrooms in South Extension. But in Karol Bagh, traders and MLAs courted arrest before the MCD could seal any property.
