HYDERABAD: The State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Wednesday directed the Central Power Distribution Company Limited (CPDCL) to pay compensation of Rs 2 lakh to a family in Chandanagar, who lost their nine-year-old daughter because of the negligence of CPDCL officials.Ch Venkata Ramanaiah, a resident of Chandanagar, lost his daughter Sreeja on May 8, 2006 after she suffered burn injuries when there was a huge spark from a 33 KV high tension electric line set up in Bikshapathi enclave in Chandanagar.The girl suffered 45 per cent burns and died while undergoing treatment.Ramanaiah lodged a complaint in the SHRC alleging that the mishap took place because of gross negligence of the CPDCL and hence the entire medical expenses for his daughter's treatment besides other expenses he incurred be compensated.
