PALAKKAD: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Friday handed over an appointment letter to M G Santhosh, brother of rape victim Soumya, at the ICCONS Hospital in Shoranur.Santhosh was offered the job of a peon in the Revenue Divisional Office in Ottapalam. Soumya’s mother Sumathi, C P Mohammed MLA and president of the District Congress Committee C V Balachandran were also present.Soumya was raped on February 1 night last year after being pushed out of a moving train by an anti-social Govindachami. She succumbed to her injuries on February 6.Following her death, Santhosh was promised a job in the Railways. But when the appointment was delayed due to procedural wrangles, the grievance was brought to the notice of the Chief Minister when he visited Soumya’s house a few months ago along with Shoranur Municipal Chairman M R Murali.
