Police and the Intelligence Bureau (IB) officials have intensified the probe into the incident at ISRO, where a 44-year-old woman had entered the high security campus using a fake identity card on September 21. Meanwhile, Buela M Sam, who had breached the security and was remanded in judicial custody, has been taken into police custody till September 29.
The police requested the 10th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate on Tuesday to remand Buela in their custody to enable them to question her in connection with the incident.
The magistrate considered the request and handed over the accused to police custody for four days.
Following the court’s permission, a police team reached the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison, where Buela was lodged since Saturday, and produced the court order at the prison.
Around 3 pm, the police team took Buela into their custody and shifted her to an undisclosed location.
Meanwhile, a few special teams have been formed to gather information about Buela. The teams have reached Ahmedabad, Kollam and Mangalore for probe.
Sources said the police have decided to take the help of psychiatrists in the investigations. Meanwhile, a source in the IB doubted Alex Thomas’s version. “Our team is questioning the couple. We are suspecting that Buela entered ISRO premises with some intention and we still don’t know her motive. We are interrogating her ascertain it.”
Meanwhile, police have suspected the role of an ISRO engineer behind the incident. “There are clues that the woman was in touch with an engineer working with ISRO. It is suspected that the engineer had helped her in creating the fake identity card and guided her to stay at the ISRO guest house with the fake card. If we get some lead into this angle, we will pick the engineer for questioning,” a source said.
