A spy camera, smartphone, mobile phone, pen drives, Bluetooth headphones and several other devices were found in the cell of separatist leader and ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh in a major jail security breach in Assam.
Singh and his nine associates are lodged in Dibrugarh Central Jail in Assam. He was arrested by the Punjab police from the state’s Moga district after several weeks of dramatic manhunt.
Giving information about the breach, Assam DGP GP Singh informed that all the devices were seized and lawful action has been initiated in the matter.
“On receipt of Information about unauthorised activities taking place in the NSA cell, additional CCTV cameras were installed in the public area of NSA Block. Inputs received confirmed unauthorised activities, based on which Jail staff searched the premise of NSA Cell early this morning, leading to the recovery of a smartphone with SIM, keypad phone, TV remote with keyboard, spy-cam pen, pen drives, Bluetooth headphone & speakers and smart watch which were lawfully seized by Jail staff,” the top cop said in a X post.

“The source of these unauthorised articles and mode of induction is being ascertained. Further lawful action is being taken and steps are being taken to prevent,” he added.
The Punjab Police arrested 29-year-old Amritpal Singh from a gurdwara in Rode under the stringent National Security Act in April 2023. The pro-Khalistani leader was charged under the stringent National Security Act, or NSA.
In February last year, Singh’s followers stormed the Ajnala police station by his supporters to secure the release of an arrested associate.
