New Delhi: Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Rohitha Bogollagama on Wednesday said that the role of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) in the attack on the island nation's cricket players in Lahore cannot be rule out.
Bogollagama, who was in Pakistan to oversee the cricket team's evacuation, met Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
He said that the involvement of LTTE needs to be investigated as the terror group is steadily losing territory to government forces in Sri Lanka.
He claimed that the LTTE might be desperate and would have been involved in Tuesday's attack against the Sri Lankan cricketers.
The attack on the island nation's team was the first terror attack on Sri Lankans abroad.
Bogollagama also added that his country would seek cooperation with friendly countries like Pakistan to ensure that LTTE will not find sanctuaries abroad.
