State budgets Rs 1,077 - crore NRHM programmes
Follow us:WhatsappFacebookTwitterTelegram.cls-1{fill:#4d4d4d;}.cls-2{fill:#fff;}Google NewsThe governing body of the Odisha State Health and Family Welfare Society has finalised the budget health programmes under the National Rural health Mission (NRHM) at Rs 1,077 crore.The major components of the budget include reproductive child health, immunization, NRHM initiatives, integrated disease surveillance, vector-borne disease control programme, control of blindness, leprosy eradication programme and revised tuberculosis prevention programme.The governing body meeting chaired by Chief Secretary BK Patnaik here on Tuesday decided that 35 types of service based on incentives will be entrusted to Asha karmis and they will be given an additional 10 days of training. As per the programme implementation plan (PIP), 354 mobile health units will be operated with budgetary support both from the NRHM and the State Government. Equipment maintenance wings will be expanded with the opening of three new zones at Sambalpur, Ganjam and Koraput.Besides, sickle cell project will be extended to six more districts. At present it is functioning in six districts with one referral unit at VSS Medical College and Hospital, Burla.It has been planned to set up 250 newborn care corners in different districts for better health care of babies to reduce the  neonatal deaths. Presently, 450 such units are operating.  For institutional care of children with acute malnutrition 38 new nutrition rehabilitation centres will be set up in addition to the existing six units.For care of expectant mothers 28 new Ma Ghara (maternity waiting homes) will be constructed in addition to 22 operating homes and four post-natal homes will be constructed at district headquarters hospitals facing space constraint.Around 18 lakh family size long lasting insecticide nets (LLIN) will be distributed in high risk areas. The meeting was told that 41.43 lakh such nets have been distributed by 2011-12. Single size nets will be supplied to students under school health programme. The Chief Secretary directed the department to have dedicated power supply to all hospitals by supplying generators. Inverters will be installed in operation theatres and labour rooms. The department was asked to complete the task of dedicated power supply to all the district hospitals by the year-end. It has been planned to revitalise the Gaon Kalyan Samitis by enhancing the capacity of members. The Chief Secretary asked the department to develop a comprehensive training module, including the programmes of health, sanitation, nutrition and public health. The members of GKS will be sanitized and trained about these activities.There is a steady growth in the utilization of Central assistance under NRHM during the last five years.
