Students receive aid

CHENNAI: In an effort to provide educational assistance to underprivileged students, voluntary social organisation MRL Anbargal Nesakkarangal distributed fees worth Rs 95,000 to school and college  students at Government Higher Secondary school, Manali. About 70 students, including 10 college students from the Sri Lankan refugee camp at Gummudipoondi, benefitted from the initiative. Nearly 140 government school students, from Classes 1 to 12 across various schools in Manali, Vichur, Manali new town and Palaverkkadu received 750 notebooks worth Rs 16,500. Uniforms worth `10,000 were  also distributed. On the whole, 210 students benefited from the initiative. Navaneethakrishnan, ACP, Ennore and Mullai R Gnanasekaran, President of Town Panchayat, Manali, K Kannaiyan, DGM, Chennai Petroleum Corporation and V Sivakumar, Inspector of Police, Manali, attended the event.
