Sulking VHR to be on Mouna Vratam from Today

Peeved that the state leadership of the Congress has not accepted his demand for holding a brainstorming session to discuss the reasons for the party's pathetic performance in the recent byelections, Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao is embarking on a Mouna Vratam in front of Gandhi Bhavan, the party's state headquarters, here on Saturday.

Talking with reporters here on Friday, Rao fired salvos at chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and PCC president Botcha Satyanarayana, saying that both ignored the repeated requests of party workers for conduct of a brainstorming session.

"The party state leadership is not considering the demands of the cadre.

My repeated requests too have gone in a vain.

So I have decided to fight for the well-being of every grass-root worker in the party.

Demanding an immediate brainstorming session, I will stage a Mouna Deekha in front of Gandhi Bhavan from 10 am tomorrow.

My sit-in will continue till I get a clearcut promise from the party leadership on holding the brainstorming session.

" Rao warned the leadership of desertions from the age-old party if it ignored workers.

"The ministerial committee has suggested several populist schemes to the chief minister in its report.

But the ultimate responsibility of taking those schemes to the people lies with party workers.

If the party worker is not happy, who will propagate those schemes?" he asked and said a brainstorming session would help in distinguishing loyalists form betrayers.

He urged the chief minister not to fill the nominated posts in the government till the session was held as opportunists might ditch the party soon after landing the posts as happened in Kadapa district.
