The MEA had summoned the envoy on Thursday to explain his remark that certain Tamil MPs had links with the LTTE.
New Delhi: Sri Lankan special envoy Prasad Kariyawasam on Thursday apologised for his alleged remark that certain Tamil Nadu MPs had links with the LTTE. The MEA had summoned the envoy to explain his remark.
Said Kariyawasam, "The government of India has expressed concern over the tone and content of my remark. I am very sorry about that. That is not what I meant. I have a lot of respect for Tamil Nadu MPs. I cannot ask India to investigate its MPs."
He added, "We are looking for home grown solutions, mechanisms to sort out the issue. There are lobby groups in the western part of the world, their campaign bothers us."
