In a gruesome incident of honour killing from Tamil Nadu’s Madurai district, a 22-year-old man killed his sister and beheaded her lover and kept his chopped head on public display.
The incident took place at Koodakoil near Tirumangalam on Tuesday night.
The accused, 22-year-old Praveen Kumar used to fight with his 25-year-old sister, Mahalakshmi regularly over her relationship with a local person Sathish Kumar, aged 28.
As per police, the sister was married to a person from Vaniyankulam in Madurai but her relationship with her husband did not last long following which she stayed with her mother and brother Praveen.
Later, Mahalakshmi fell in love with a local person Sathish Kumar who belonged a different caste. Her brother was totally against their relationship and had warned the duo on continuing it.
On Tuesday night, Praveen waylaid Satish Kumar and hacked him repeatedly leading to his death. His head was decapitated and kept at a public place on open display.
After reaching home, he hacked his sister to death. When his mother tried to protect his sister, he also attacked her and cut off her right wrist.
The bodies of both Mahalakshmi and Sathish Kumar were later taken to GRH hospital, Madurai for postmortem.
