New Delhi: Speaker of Andhra Pradesh Assembly K R Suresh Reddy on Thursday suspended twenty five TDP members for two days for obstructing proceedings of the House.

The Opposition members were disrupting the proceedings over the purchase of assigned lands to the poor by a relative of Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in Denduluru, in West Godavari district for establishment of a factory.

Uproarious scenes were witnessed in the House as soon as it assembled for the day with TDP members insisting on taking up an adjournment motion on increasing corruption, which led to adjournment of the house for 15 minutes.

The Speaker ruled that personal allegations in the form of adjournment motion could not be taken up as it had already been disallowed.

The furor showed no signs of subsiding when the House re-assembled as the TDP members stood their ground and continued to obstruct the proceedings.

On Speaker's direction, Legislative Affairs Minister K Rosaiah moved a resolution, under rule 300 of the Assembly Procedures, seeking suspension of the TDP members present in the House, barring the Opposition leader N Chandrababu Naidu.

As the TDP members did not leave the House even after their suspension, they were lifted out of the House by the Marshals.

Later, they staged a dharna near the speaker's chambers protesting against their suspension, which they dubbed as undemocratic action to muzzle the voice of the opposition.
