Hyderabad: The fast-unto-death by students demanding a separate state entered the second day on Tuesday at Osmania University (OU) campus, even as TRS and BJP conducted 'Vanta Vaarpu' (cook and serve food) protests in various Telangana districts.
"The indefinite fast by students in front of the Arts College building at the OU campus is continuing. Around 50 students, including girls, are on fast. However, it was a peaceful day on Tuesday as there were no incidents of stone pelting by students," Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Zone) Y Gangadhar said.
"We are not disturbing their fast programme. However, depending on the health (deterioration) condition of students...they may be shifted from the fasting venue," he said.
The Telangana Student Joint Action Committee (TS-JAC) has given a mass hunger strike call in support of a separate Telangana state.
Meanwhile, another pro-Telangana agitation was witnessed at several places in Telangana districts, wherein TRS and BJP workers, led by their leaders, cooked and consumed food en masse on the roads.
Pro-statehood activists, including advocates, conducted 'Vanta Vaarpu' in Warangal, Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Nizamabad, Khammam and other Telangana districts.
In Warangal district, BJP state president G Kishan Reddy participated in the 'Vanta Vaarpu'.
