HYDERABAD: The Telangana general strike spread to the GHMC circle offices on Tuesday. Except the GHMC head office, the strike was total in all the other municipal offices in the city. The strike is likely to cost GHMC foregone revenue collections to the tune of `5-10 crore loss per day as there will be no collections of property tax, trade licence fee, building approval free and developmental charges.Tempers flared up in the GHMC head office when policemen took Bhagyanagar Municipal Employees Union president Shankar and others into custody for directing the employees who were on duties to leave the premises and join the strike. Heated arguments took place between the union leaders and police personnel. Seeing the tense situation, several employees left the office silently. Police were deployed to prevent any untoward incident.
