BANGALORE: An ancient temple at Bagalur Circle near Yelahanka was looted on late Saturday night. Gold ornaments and cash worth over Rs 2.5 lakh are reportedly missing from the temple.According to the police, some unknown miscreants gained entry into the temple by breaking open the temple’s window grills. They looted the gold and silver ornaments used to adorn the idols of Ganesha and Subramanya.Also, the hundi in the temple, which was stolen, was found near a water tank behind the temple.It is estimated that the hundi or donation box contained Rs 40,000 cash.It is said that the temple is about 100-years-old and it was renovated two years back. In connection with the theft, GLN Gowda, the president of the temple’s trust, has filed a complaint in Bagalur police station on Sunday morning. Further investigations are on.
