New Delhi: Union Home Ministry has written a letter to the Karnataka and Kerala governments about a possible threat to Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) space scientists, according to sources.
The Home Ministry has asked the state governments to step up security for the scientists.
The advisory issued by the Home Ministry said at least six middle rung space scientists are on the terror radar.
Reacting to the threat, ISRO said that they have a three-tier security set up and all scientists are safe.
On Thursday, the Government had issued an advisory warning various airports of terror attacks but eventually withdrew the advisory within hours of it being issued.
The advisory, issued by the Director General of Civil Aviation at the behest of the Home Ministry, had very specific “intelligence inputs” of a 9/11-style hijack plot.
Sources said the advisory was withdrawn as the information could not be verified.
“Information provided therein has been further assessed and could not be substantiated. Hence, the alert may be withdrawn,” read the withdrawal statement.
