Three of a family electrocuted in agricultural field, die on the spot

Three members of a family were electrocuted in an agricultural field in Khajura village of the district, police said on Friday.

A middle-aged farmer couple and their 16-year-old daughter were electrocuted in an agricultural field in Khajura village of Karwar police station area yesterday, they said.

The incident took place when the trio was going to their agricultural field on a tractor-trolley, carrying husk with high iron netting around it, which suddenly touched the 11,000 KV electric lines passing over the field, said Mohan Singh, Station House Officer (SHO) of Karwar police station.

The current spread into the tractor trolley electrocuting the trio, he said, adding that all three died on the spot.

The deceased have been identified as Rajghuraj Meena (50), wife Rambai (45) and daughter Rumali.

The dead bodies of the three were handed over to their family members this morning after postmortem, Singh said, adding that a case was lodged and further investigation is on.
