Three-yr-old boy drowns in sump

BANGALORE: A three-year-old boy died after he accidentally fell into a sump at Kaikondanahalli in HSR Layout police station limits on  Monday evening. The deceased has been identified as Deepak, son of Shakthivelu, a washerman.According to police, Deepak was playing with a ball and it fell inside the sump of a neighbouring house. He might have fallen inside the sump, which is about 10-feet deep, while trying to take his ball out of the sump. The police suspect that the boy fell in the sump at around 5pm. His parents searched for him after he went missing. His body was found in the sump at around 7pm.“The tenants of the house used to fetch water from the sump and they had forgotten to close the lid of the sump. This  resulted in the boy’s death,” the police                                       explained.HSR Layout police have registered a case of unnatural death and further investigations are on.
