A chain of consumer goods, produced by the inmates of Tihar jail, are all set to go online through a new website.

New Delhi: A chain of consumer goods, produced by the inmates of Tihar jail, are all set to catch global attention with the prison authorities deciding to promote its 'TJ' brand online.

Customers who want to know more about the Tihar jail products can visit the website tj.nic.in.

"We have decided to promote the TJ brand in India and outside countries too. To facilitate this, we will display all the factory products along with the photograph and prices in the website - tj.nic.in - so that customers wanting to avail any product of this brand can contact us," Sunil Gupta, Tihar spokesperson and law officer said.

"This website will be visible from October 22 and will showcase all products being made available at various outlets in the city," he said.

The products which are sold under the TJ brand include various type of bakery products, pottery, apparels, paintings, hand made paper products, oil, hand woven cloth, apparels, office furniture, carpets, soap, phenyl etc.

Gupta said, "The TJ brand has an outlet at the Delhi High Court which is a big hit amongst lawyers. The products are of good quality and are available at prices lesser than their substitutes."

Seeing the increasing demand for the products, it was decided to make them available in the entire country and even outside, he said.

Developed by the National Informatics Centre, this website will also give information of the outlets where these products can be available for the customers.

"We also have plans of selling the products online after this successfully takes off," he said.
