New Delhi: Over 100 people have been killed and at least 350 injured in a massive fire that broke out during a fireworks display at the Puttingal temple in Kerala's Kollam district on Sunday morning. Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Kollam with a team of burn specialists to take stock of the situation.

Speaking exclusively to CNN-IBN, Kerala's Home Minister, Ramesh Chennithala said, "There will be enquiry into how the temple went ahead with the celebration when they were told not to, the judicial enquiry will throw more light into the incident. We will bring to book the people responsible."

"Bodies are still being identified, we are still providing assistance to the injured. At least 100 people have died while more than 383 people have been injured", he added.

The minister also said that it is too early to pin responsibility for the tragedy as the enquiry is still on. "The judicial enquiry will take 6 months becasue we will have to look into all angles to ensure that something like this is not repeated at any temple in Kerala", he added.
