THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Confusion prevails over the newly-constructed CRIP road at Shanghumugham. Currently, there is no opening at the portion, where the road in front of the beach joins the newly-constructed CRIP road. Owing to the lack of opening on the divider, the vehicles have to move forward in the one-way path, making the busy airport road prone to accidents. The opening is allotted only in front of the Cargo complex. When contacted, Anil Kumar Pandala, project director of the CRIP, said that directive had been given to correct it. “An opening is needed at the junction. I have given orders to open the divider at the area,” he said.He said that an unnecessary cutting was made in front of the Cargo complex based on the their demand. “A U-turn has been allowed at that cutting. We are planning to open the divider at the junction too. However, the area will be prone to accidents owing to presence of the curve at the junction,” he said.Pandala requested the motorists not to park the vehicles 15 metres near the U-turns. “Parking near the U-turn have became a menace in the city. I got stuck up at Shanghumukham for an hour on the Christmas day. City travellers must avoid parking near the U-turns and over footpaths,” he said.
