BHUBANESWAR: In the guise of working for AIDS awareness, two members of an NGO, which was minting money from hundreds of youths by giving them jobs, have landed in police net. Khandagiri Police which arrested Gyana Ranjan Das and Rajat Champati said, the two have made crores of rupees from about 3,000 youths. Das and Champati were running an organisation called the Regional Centre for Health, Research and Education which was promoting awareness against HIV and AIDS. The two had advertised for jobs in different positions and recruited about 1,200 youths. “Each youth who was appointed made a security deposit thrice the amount of his salary. The organisation also disbursed salary for the first month and then its promoters made a vanishing act,” police said. Once the youths realised that they had been taken for a ride, some of them lodged a complaint with Khandagiri Police. Soon after, Dash and Champati absconded and a police team rounded them up at Begunia. Two other members of the NGO are still at large.
