Both men were working on contract at Tarapur Atomic Power Station.

Mumbai: Two men have been arrested for attempting to sneak out computer spare parts from the high-security Tarapur Atomic Power Station (TAPS-Units 2 and 3) in Mumbai early last month, an official said on Monday.

The two men, identified as Prashant More of Jena Engineering and Amit Shelke of Yash Tours and Travels, were both working on contract at TAPS and tried to steal computer power supply parts in their vehicle without a valid gate pass on November 1.

Personnel of the Central Industrial Security Force, in-charge of security, stopped the duo and apprehended them before summoning the Tarapur police.

One of the contractors said the computer spares belonged to his company and were lying in his office located outside the TAPS-Units 2 and 3.

A spokesman for the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd asserted that there has been "no breach of security at the TAPS station" due to the incident.
