PUDUCHERRY: The Police, on Tuesday, arrested two minors in connection with the murder of a security guard at an oil company on Monday night.Senior Superintendent of Police VJ Chandran said that the accused Sivaperumal (15) and Sabarinathan (16) were arrested from the botanical garden by Muthialpet police and on interrogation confessed to committing the crime. The private security guard, A Lourdusamy (72), was found murdered on Tuesday morning at the private oil mill in TV Nagar. Sivaperumal and Sabarinathan, who were travelling on a bicycle in an inebriated condition on Monday night, knocked over Lourdusamy. Lourdusamy abused them and then returned to the oil mill, where he slept in a shed. Enraged, both the teens gained entry into the mill by scaling the wall. They attacked the man with a huge concrete block and then stabbed him. The guard sustained injuries and died later and his body was found on Tuesday morning.After committing the crime, the duo went to the house of their friend Anbazhagan and told him about committing the murder, he in turn informed the police.Senior Superintendent of Police VJ Chandran said that Sivaperumal had been involved in stealing copper wires from a parcel service office adjacent to the oil mill. Police are investigating Action against Those Selling Liquor to Minors: Top Cop The Puducherry Police have planned to take action against those selling liquor to minors. Senior Superintendent of Police (Law and Order) V J Chandran said this was against the backdrop of the arrest of two minors, who murdered a security guard after getting drunk. He hinted that action will be taken against the shop that sold them liquor. Noting that liquor consumption by minors was a disturbing trend, the Senior Superintendent said that the Union Territory did not have an effective rule or legislation to check the disturbing trend.He added that the police department would write to the government on this and fix an age limit for drinking, citing the present crime as “a ground case”.
