TIRUVANNAMALAI: In separate incidents, two teenaged girls ended their lives by setting fire to themselves here recently. Anitha (17), a plus two student of Santhamedu area near Sathanur set herself on fire last week. She died in hospital on Friday. Sources said she was suffering from some ailments.In another incident, Amulu (19)of Vilanallur near Vandavasi, who was married recently, set herself on fire when she was alone at home. She succumbed to her injuries on Thursday night. An enquiry is underway to find out what caused the incidents. Youth Ends Life by Jumping in Front of BusA 20-year-old youth committed suicide on Friday morning by throwing himself in front of a moving bus near Ambur bus stand. The government bus, which was on its way to Bangalore from Arcot, had stopped at the Ambur bus stand for a while. The police in Ambur rushed to the spot and sent the body for postmortem. Police have registered a case and are trying to find out the identity of the deceased.Fire Breaks Out at Hotel, None Hurt A fire broke out at a hotel, located on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway in Avalurpetin Ocheri, on Thursday. The fire which suddenly engulfed the hotel at around 10:30 am, damaged refrigerators and other items. At the time of the incident the hotel had been closed for Vinayagar Chaturthi, on Thursday. Local residents alerted the fire service, which rushed to the spot immediately and doused the flames. The cause of the accident could not be ascertained. Housewife Commits Suicide Over DisputeA housewife committed suicide by hanging herself over a family dispute in Arakkonam on Thursday.Rajan and Manjula, residents of Arakkonam got married four years back, and had a one-and-a-half-year-old son. However, both used to quarrel frequently. Following one such quarrel on Thursday, Manjula hanged herself. An RDO enquiry has been ordered.Tractor Used For Sand Mining SeizedRevenue department officials seized a tractor used for sand mining near Kaveripakkam on Friday. The officials spotted the tractor during a regular vehicle check. Interrogations revealed that sand was being carried away without proper licence. The officials seized the tractor and handed it over to Kaveripakkam police, who registered a case.
