Underlining that governance is different from politics, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Wednesday said his administration would have no confrontation with the BJP-led central government.

He was responding to questions on what would be the state government's attitude towards the Narendra Modi-led government at the centre.

"See, there will be difference of opinion on political aspects but it will never come in way for needs of the state...there will not be any sort of confrontation with the centre. Governance is different, politics is different," Chandy told reporters here.

Notably, former chief minister VS Achuthanandan (2006-11) had sat down in protest in Delhi against the Manmohan Singh government on certain policy issues.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) does not have a member from Kerala in both the houses of parliament and in the 140-member Kerala assembly.

Meanwhile, Modi got a good certificate from Kerala government chief whip PC George, who said the new prime minister would be a strong leader and a team led by Chandy should meet him and tell the state's needs.

Actor-turned-MP Innocent, who won his debut election as a Left Front supported Independent, Tuesday said he would have no qualms to support Modi if he is going to do good things.
