PARADIP: Alleging non-fulfilment of their demands by the district administration, the pro-Posco villagers on Tuesday intercepted four trucks carrying construction materials to the project site. The villagers, including women and children, under the aegis of the Kunja Bihari Gramaya Surakshya Committee on Tuesday seized six containers carrying construction materials for the company camps in the project sites. The containers were not allowed to enter Gadkujang and have been detained on the village road for over 12 hours. The company had planned to open a temporary office at Nuagaon by erecting the containers, which have facilities like rooms and other required amenities to run an office. Their demands include employment to each family and revision of compensation. The company, however, went ahead with its plan and got the six containers without the knowledge of administration and police.Gadkujang Sarpanch Nakula Sahu said the villagers are determined not to allow the company’s new office till their demands are conceded. One Manoj Bajaj, identified himself as general manager (construction) of the Posco company, requested the irate villagers to allow the containers to proceed. But the villagers did not oblige, he added.Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Paradip, Santanu Das said no complaint had been lodged regarding the detention of containers by villagers.
