KOCHI: Ending doubts over implementation of the Kochi metro project, the website for the Kochi metro rail project will become a reality on Tuesday. The website — www.kochimetro.org — will be launched at the office of Minister Aryadan Mohammad, Minister-in-charge of Railways, at 4 pm. It will have important information regarding the implementation of the Kochi metro project. Visitors to the portal can go through detailed descriptions on the necessity of the metro rail project, the aim and target of the project, its detailed plan, technical data, major specialities, land needed for the project, details on land acquisition and rehabilitation facilities, metro stations and trains along with other technical details of metro trains. “The website aims at giving proper information regarding the working of the Kochi metro rail project. This will help create awareness on the project among the people in Kochi and its rural pockets,” said the officials. Visitors of the website can send queries regarding the information required to the mail ID, [email protected]. The officials said that once a query is sent, the requested information would be made available within 48 hours by e-mail.The decision to launch a website was taken during a meeting of top officials and other stakeholders under Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in Kochi last month. The decision was taken by Chandy as part of an initiative to ensure transparency. During the meeting, representatives from various organisations, including Vyapari Vyavasayi Ekopana Samithy and the apex council for residents associations, and Kochi Corporation officials pointed out that launching a website would help bring in clarity about the implementation of the project. Based on the decisions of the meeting, an office has also been opened in Kochi for the metro rail project.
