BANGALORE: Oxfam Trailwalker, a popular team challenge event that also raises funds for social causes across the globe, will be held in India for the first time between February 10 and 12 next year on a trail between Mysore and Bangalore. The trail would entail individuals in teams of four to cover a distance of 100 kilometres within a maximum time of 48 hours. At a press conference held recently in the city, Rahul Bose — Oxfam Global’s ambassador said, “The challenge is easy. Anybody could do it. I encourage more people to participate because it’s not a competitive event. You have two days to finish the task, you could have fun walking with your friends and family in groups, you are passing through so many villages and while doing all this you are also contributing to the society. It’s like two days of great fun — that's how I see it.” The teams that want to participate in the trail can register with Oxfam India through their website. The registration fees for a team of four is Rs12,000. The team then pledges to collect  Rs 40,000 — through the trail. Oxfam aims to garner at least a crore through this particular event. The proceeds will go to support many grassroot NGOs that work to address root causes of poverty and inequality in four areas — economic justice, essential services, gender justice and humanitarian response and disaster risk reduction. “I think these are the main areas which require immediate action. There are many problems in the country but I think these four sectors are critical,” added Rahul Bose. Oxfam is marking it’s 60 year in India. “The trail is an excellent way of raising money. I hope a lot of people participate — so that more money can be raised and given to the ones in need,” said Rahul Bose.   The trail that will take place next year will also see the actor participating. “I wil be participating of course. I think it will be a cake walk. I am tough and fit enough already and don't really think it will be a daunting task. I could do it in a day,” said Rahul Bose, when asked about his participation next year.
