The cash crisis across the nation continues on Sunday and anger among the people over helplessness of bank officials to dispense cash has been intensified after demonetisation of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes by the government.

New Delhi: There was no let up on Sunday in the political slugfest over the demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes nor did the huge crowds outside banks and ATMs across the country show any signs of abating.

PM Narendra Modi made an emotional appeal to the public to bear with the move for 50 days, or till December 30 — the last day to exchange old currency notes for new Rs 500 and Rs 2,000 notes.

“I know the forces up against me. They may not let me live. They may ruin me because their loot of 70 years is in trouble, but I am prepared,” he said in Goa, breaking down during the speech.

Soon after, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee moved to mobilise the Opposition against the move and spoke to CPM leader Sitaram Yechury and RJD leader Lalu Prasad on the issue. Her Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal reiterated
