With an 'A,' Fashion has got a raw deal: Bhandarkar
I tried my best to convince the Censor Board, says Bhandarkar.

New Delhi: Passionate scenes are nothing new in Madhur Bhandarkar films and the director feels that this next venture Fashion which got 'A' certificate, received a raw deal by the Censor Board.

"I tried my best to convince the Censor Board that I want a U/A certificate, but they had certain objections to the scenes.

They called the scenes bold and rough which might have a negative impact on the younger age-groups. But as per my conviction, such bold scenes have always been there in my films whether you talk of the Chandni Baar, Page 3 or Corporate," says the National Award winning director.

"I asked them whether I should cut certain scenes from the film. But they told me that the film is very good and cutting scenes will reduce the impact. I wanted people from the age-group of 12-30 to watch the films. Today children have cellphones and an access to Internet so nothing as such is hidden from them," he adds.

The director, who is known for making realistic movies and had been conferred with National Awards for his various movies, says the film 'Fashion' was an inspiration from the glamorous and happening word and he tried his best to depict the true picture of the fashion industry.

Bhandarkar, who was recently in the capital to attend the Wills India Fashion Week Delhi says, "Well the idea to make a film on fashion had struck me much before.

But the inspiration which I draw is from fashion events only. I did all my research work from this fashion weeks. It gave me a broader perspective on fashion and the fashion world."
