Palakkad: A 27-year-old pregnant woman was carried by her relatives in a makeshift stretcher for at least seven kilometres at backward Attapady tribal hamlet to a hospital, where she delivered a baby girl.
Since no ambulance was available, she was carried in the stretcher made of a bedsheet tied to logs, hospital sources said.
The incident came to light after footage aired by television channels of her journey went viral in the social media on Wednesday. The woman was taken to the government tribal hospital at Kottathara on Tuesday, where she delivered the baby.
