Woman burnt to death

CUTTACK: A 25-year-old woman was burnt to death under suspicious circumstance at Dihasahi of Shankarpur within Badambadi police limits on Tuesday. Her father has alleged that she was set on fire following a quarrel in the family. Police have, meanwhile, detained her husband.The woman, Mani, was charred to death in a rented house where she had been living with her husband Pintoo Sharma of Bhagalpur in Bihar. Pintoo is an aluminium channel fitter engaged in construction work in the city.He had earlier worked in Talcher where he fell in love with Mani. They then eloped and came to Cuttack. They have two sons. While the elder one is three-year-old, the younger is one-year-old. On Tuesday, both had a quarrel. Mani was found to be on fire and later succumbed to her injuries. Pintoo was also found to have sustained burn injuries in his chest and hands.While Pintoo has claimed that She had doused in kerosene and set herself on fire, Mani’s father lodged a police complaint that he had burnt her in a fit of rage.
