Woman held for cheating students

BANGALORE: A first-year engineering student, who duped students and unemployed youth, in guise of HR Manager was arrested by Indiranagar police on Thursday. The accused Bhuvanapriya, 20, claimed to be a HR manager at Emphasis, an MNC, and sent recruitment emails to several city-based colleges. She used to meet the Principals and placement officers of these colleges and assured to return for campus interviews. Once granted permission, she interviewed students and collected money towards placement. The accused also gave fake offer letters. According to the police, she copied the organisation’s logo from internet and printed fake letterheads. Following several complaints from students and job aspirants, Emphasis hired an investigative agency, who found her involvement. Reportedly Bhanupriya hailed from a poor family and cheated people to earn easy money.
