BTS’ Jin Celebrates Military Discharge With A Trip To Mount Hallasan
BTS star Jin took a new challenge by hiking Mount Hallasan for his reality show, Run Jin.

BTS’ Jin has finished his mandatory military service. Now, the South Korean star has jumped right back into work and even held a special event for ARMYs. The singer took on a new challenge by hiking Mount Hallasan on Jeju island for his reality show, Run Jin. The episode, recently released on Bangtan TV’s YouTube channel, has touched the hearts of his fans. During the hike, Jin’s team kept him motivated with a fun challenge, if he received five congratulations for his discharge, they’ll treat him with lunch. With encouragement from his team and the support of ARMYs, Jin reached the mountain’s peak in just four hours.

Before beginning the climb, Jin said, “This is actually something I’ve aspired to do, rather than something I’m doing for fun. I’ll do funny shoots in the future but today is all about ambition. You’re beautiful because you try. I will do my best for this hike. Fighting. My original plan was from start to finish, I will finish what I started. If I start tennis, I’ll hit 1,000 balls. If I start hiking, I’ll reach the top. That was the plan but I jumped right into hiking from the start."

In the episode, Jin took breaks, called friends, and interacted with fans while hiking Mount Hallasan and his crew kept the mood light with various games. However, he started to feel exhausted after 100 meters of the climb and said that the hike had really shaken his confidence. He said, “This is truly a stairway to heaven. I was in the wrong. I was just so excited that I wrongly thought I could just do everything. How arrogant I was. What Muhammad Ali once said was right, ‘Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth’." Turns out the line was originally said by Mike Tyson.

After hiking for 4 hours and 20 minutes, Jin finally reached the summit. Thrilled by the view, the singer compared the scene to a drama. He couldn’t even believe seeing the Baengnokdam Lake just five days after his discharge. Before going down, Jin posed for photos with his team and the entire trek, including the return journey, took seven hours to complete.

Currently, Jin is the only BTS member who has completed his military service. The rest of the group, Suga, J Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook, are expected to finish their service in 2025.
