‘It Was A Joke’: Exhuma Star Kim Go-Eun On Getting ‘Paid To Act’
Addressing a previous statement, Kim Go-eun clarified that her remark was made in jest at her own expense.

South Korean actress Kim Go-eun has clarified a previous statement she made during an appearance on a YouTube chat show. On February 4, the Cheese In The Trap star in an interview with Jung Jae-hyung revealed that she felt a responsibility towards her work since she was “paid to act”. The actress firmly believed that her “acting should be worth the money.” Her opinion quickly went viral on social media back at that time. Now, while speaking about her recently released film Exhuma, Kim Go-eun has finally addressed her past statement in an interaction with the reporters.

Indirectly highlighting Kim Go-eun’s past comment, the media personnel asked the actress whether she delivered a performance as per her expectations in Exhuma, making the producers’ money “worth” it. In her response, Kim Go-eun gave out a smile as she said, “It was a joke I made at my expense,” reported Koreaboo. Explaining what she meant, the actress added. “You know, on those days when it is freezing but you have to film, or on days you know it’s going to be tough, it’s just something that I say to myself to get through it.”

Kim Go-eun continued that her remarks were neither aimed at anyone nor did she want to criticise someone else. In fact, as per the actress, when she goes through a tough phase while filming a complex movie sequence, she reminds herself to work harder as a part of self-motivation. “I tell myself I have to do it because I am getting paid, in a joking way, to will myself,” she asserted.

In the same conversation, Kim Go-eun also talked about her film Exhuma which has been running successfully in the theatres. Directed by Chae-hyon Chang, the horror mystery was released on the silver screens on February 22. Hoping the success streak continues, Kim Go-eun claimed that since Exhuma was a commercial film, “It would lose its significance if no one watched it.” The actress added that she was ready to accept any criticism from the audience, provided they watched the film first.
