K-pop Dominates 38th Japan Gold Disc Awards; Check Full Winners' List
Jungkook of K-pop boyband BTS won the Song of the Year by Download (Asia) award.

The 38th Japan Gold Disc Awards took place on March 13. The Recording Industry Association of Japan presented the award, which recognised musical artists for their outstanding achievements between January 1 and December 31, 2023. Among the winners were several K-pop artists who secured victories.

According to the award-giving body’s official website, the K-pop boyband SEVENTEEN received six trophies in 2024. For their tenth mini-album, FML, the group earned both the Asia Album of the Year award and the Best Asian Artist award.

FML was also the recipient of the Best 3 Albums (Asia) award, in addition to the boy band’s 11th mini-album SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN along with their Japanese compilation album ALWAYS YOURS. The group also won Music Video of the Year (Asia) for their SEVENTEEN WORLD TOUR [BE THE SUN] JAPAN.

“We are happy to receive such distinguished awards,” a press release from SEVENTEEN stated.

They expressed gratitude to Carat (fandom name) and everyone who enjoyed their music. They said that they will try to do their best to keep presenting quality music.

Girl group LE SSERAFIM won the New Artist of the Year Award (Asia) and was also among the recipients of the Best 3 New Artists (Asia) awards, alongside leading rookie K-pop groups RIIZE and NewJeans.

“We are grateful to take these awards that we can receive only once in our career,” LE SSERAFIM was reported as saying by The Korea Herald.

They also expressed their gratitude to Fearnot (fandom name) for their support and to all music listeners. They said that they would keep performing songs that tell their personal stories.

NewJeans’ OMG, the first track from their debut single album of the same name, was awarded Song of the Year by Streaming (Asia).

Fourth-generation K-pop group Stray Kids won the Best 5 Singles award for their EP Social Path / Super Bowl (Japanese Ver.).

Lastly, Jungkook of renowned K-pop boyband BTS claimed the Song of the Year by Download (Asia) award with his solo debut single Seven (featuring Latto).

Beginning in 1987, Japanese and foreign musicians have been recognised with the Japan Gold Disc Awards, which are based on CD sales, singles, music videos, downloads, and streaming figures.
