It’s that time of the year again! New Year, New You! The time when we make new resolutions, try to bring positive changes to our lives and of course start a new gym membership!
But is health and fitness just about hitting the gym? Should your New Year’s Resolution be just about hitting the gym?
“One needs to take a holistic approach towards health and fitness. It isn’t just about physical fitness, your emotional and mental health and overall well-being matters too” says Miten Kakaiya, fitness and wellness coach at Miten Says Fitness.
Here are 5 health resolutions for you to keep, apart from hitting the gym-
Soak up the morning sun!
Ditch the snooze button! Rise and shine to morning sunlight that isn’t just good for your circadian rhythm but also boosts your energy levels and gives your morning a bright start! Getting up early and watching the sunrise, or even sitting at the park to soak up some sun can do wonders for your health. “Sitting in sunlight in the morning hours not just boosts Vitamin D synthesis, but also uplifts your sleep routine” adds Miten.
Breathe in, Breathe out!
Picture this: a stressful day, deadlines to chase, and a long to-do list! Now, close your eyes and take a deep breath – you will see your stress melt away! Who knew the key to a healthier you depend on something as simple as breathing? “Deep breathing brings calmness and zen into your life. It’s like a workout for the mind!” says Miten.
Humming before meals for a happy gut
Ever considered humming a tune before eating your meal? Well, make this your pre-meal ritual and see your gut health foster! “Stimulating your vagus nerve with a little humming session can do wonders for your digestion,” says Miten. It is like preparing the stomach for digestion.
Keep your surroundings clean!
Did you know that mould exposure can be the reason behind headaches, weakness, fatigue, diarrhoea, and even static shocks? A dirty environment with moulds around can bring umpteen health and lifestyle concerns for you. Keep a clean and hygienic environment around you to take care of your body. A clean house can save you from a lot of unwanted health concerns.
Prioritize yourself!
We all lead busy lives. Work, family, friends, festivals, travel, Netflix marathons – they all compete for our time! But here’s the deal: amidst the hustle and bustle of juggling between your roles, there is one priority that should never take a backseat – YOUR HEALTH! “Prioritizing yourself isn’t selfish; it’s a crucial step toward a healthier, happier you” adds Miten.
Remember, health is a holistic journey, and sometimes, even some simple habits can make the biggest impact. So, apart from just hitting the gym, resolve to make health your priority. Follow a holistically healthy lifestyle and you will have a healthier New Year!
