Shillong: Often billed as country's favourite Christmas destination, Scotland of the East also has the Cathedral Church which is one of the oldest in North East India. Shillong is also known for its music scene, the city has a number of well-known choirs and bands.
Gangtok, Sikkim: That view of Khangchenzonga is enough a reason to visit Gangtok. The capital of Sikkim whose name also means 'hill top' is literally on top of a mountain ridge. Kaziranga National Park: Home to the one horned rhino, this is one of the few parks which has actually shown a positive growth in Rhino population. Take a safari through the forest either on elephant or the open jeaps and you are surely going to see Rhinos like cattles. If lucky, tiger spotting is also a possibility.
Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh: Close to the India-China border is an important destination for Budhist religion. The picturesque town is most famous for the Tawang Monastery but it also houses a number of other monasteries. For those who love the thrill of driving on the hills, Tawang's steep hilly roads interspersed with grassy valleys and the snow-capped Himalayas can give them an experience to remember.
Kohima: Capital of Nagaland is completely decked up during the Christmas- New Year holiday season. The city will give you a sneak peek into the life and culture of the various naga tribes. It also has the the war cemetery which is dedicated to the soldiers who died in the Battle of Kohima during the second world war
