Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and it’s important to start your day with healthy food items to get enough vitamins and nutrients. There are many ideal breakfast recipes, but sprouts could be a good breakfast option.

We have read and heard a lot about how sprouts are beneficial for our body. Dietician Suman Tibrewala in a recent Instagram post explained the health benefits of sprouts when taken in breakfast.

Tibrewala shared a picture with information related to the nutritional value of sprouts. “Sprouts are termed as powerhouses of nutrition. This is because the sprouts are rich in protein, fibre, vitamin A, vitamin C, potassium, calcium and phosphorus. Sprouting increases the bioavailability of these nutrients as well,” wrote the Mumbai based dietician.

According to Tibrewala, sprouts are also a good source of antioxidants and help in neutralising the free radicals.

“Sprouts also have anti-cancer properties. The essential fatty acid content of sprouts also increases with germination,” added Tibrewala.

Here are other benefits of eating sprouts

Lowers Blood Sugar Levels: Regular consumption of sprouts helps keep blood sugar levels in check.

Improves Digestive Health: Your digestive health could be enhanced by eating sprouts. It serves as a prebiotic and nourishes gut health.

Healthy Heart: Consuming sprouts can lower cholesterol levels in persons with diabetes or obesity, according to numerous research findings.

Like any other vegetable, sprouts have their drawbacks as well. Due to their delicate nature, sprouts are typically either lightly cooked or consumed raw. Sprouts are significantly more prone to contamination than other foods. The warm, moist conditions needed to sprout seeds are also ideal for the growth of harmful germs.
